The Columbus Crew stayed perfect on the year as they went to Seattle and beat the Sounders 2-1.
Steve Clark GK - 9 MOTM - Clark showed great hands and reflexes that kept the Crew in the game in the 1st half. He did well to claim several crosses and control his box. If he had an off game the Crew would have conceded multiple goals.
Josh Williams RB - 6.5- Williams struggled to effect the game offensively. He was out of position defensively on a several occasions. Leaving the back line vulnerable to the counter attack.
Giancarlo Gonzalez CB - 7- Did well to deal with Seattle's counter attacks but made a poor decision that lead to Cooper’s goal.
Michael Parkhurst CB - 7.5- Parkhurst barely put a foot wrong despite having to repel waves of attacks in the first half. He kept the back line neat and tidy in the second half.
Waylon Francis LB - 7.5 - Francis did well to get into attacking positions especially in the 2nd half. He kept Yedlin defending and not bombing forward into the offensive end. He will need to improve on his crossing in the final third.
Wil Trapp CM - 6.5- Trapp looked rattled in the first half and committed some unusual turnovers in the first half. In the 2nd half he was effective with the ball and possession for the Crew.
Tony Tchani CM - 6 - Like his center midfield compatriot, Tchani was also wasteful with the ball early in the game. His passing improved in the second half when he was given more time in space.
Bernardo Anor LM - 7 - Anor was effective dribbling past Seattle defenders. He missed a golden opportunity in the first half to tie the game at 1-1. Anor continues to grow into an attacking presence but can go missing for long stretches of the game.
Hector Jimenez RM - 6.5- For most part of the game Jimenez was invisible. He was effective with the ball but the Crew’s most effective attacks came down the left side.
Federico Higuain F - 8.5 -One goal and one assist. Higuain continues to pile up the stats. His quick thinking on the corner allowed for Meram to curl in the winner.
Dominic Oduro F - 6.5 - Struggled to find space in behind the defense. He was just average in holding up the ball and linking the attack. He did draw the penalty and red card which set the stage for the Crew to win.
Jairo Arrieta F -6.5 - The benefit of playing against a 10 men Seattle team for almost half an hour. Arrieta was not able to to create any goal scoring opportunity in his time on the field.
Ethan Finlay RM - 6.5 - Found himself in the box with time to shoot and forced Frei into a good save. Outside of that moment Finlay did not make much of an impact.
Justin Meram F- 10 - Came on for only a few minutes but that is all he needed as his top corner rocket won the game. Did what he was put on the pitch to do.
