Crew Fire Robert Warzycha

New, 2 comments

After an abysmal two game stretch, the Crew parted ways with head coach Robert Warzycha after nearly five years. Technical Director Brian Bliss takes over the reigns as the interim head coach and will coach the Crew as they face off against the Houston Dynamo on Wednesday night.

Warzycha had been the coach since the 2009 season and had been at the helm as the team won the Supporters Shield in 2009 and made the playoffs in 2010 and 2011. The Crew have slid out of contention over the last two years, missing the MLS Playoffs in 2012 and mired in 8th place in 2013.

The Crew also dismissed assistant coach Ricardo Iribarren and goalkeepers' coach Vojislav Stanisic.

Brian Bliss adds the head coaching duties to his technical director role. Coach Mike Lapper will assist Bliss in the interim. The Crew, in a media release, said they will be addressing the assistant coaching vacancies in the coming weeks.

Massive Report will be following the story as it develops.
