Jairo Arrieta added to his international goal total tonight with a second half strike to help the Costa Rican National Team to a 3-0 win over Cuba in their first Gold Cup match.
The Costa Rican forward has struggled with the Crew this year. He has two goals through nine games after having a breakout first season in MLS last year with nine goals in 18 games. Arrieta has done well for the national team. He has scored four goals in 2013.
The Ticos face Belize on Saturday and then take on the United States next Thursday in the final game of Group C. With Costa Rica a good bet to advance to the knockout rounds, the Crew will likely lose Arrieta through at least July 20th and possibly until the Final on July 28th. Columbus hosts New England on the 20th and head to Toronto on the 27th.
