The Crew got confirmation today that Jairo Arrieta's second game of his suspension was upheld. He will miss the team's game in New York. Adam Jardy noted that Agustin Viana suffered another pull on his hamstring (slipping on a cone). He will be out on Sunday as well.
In addition to Arrieta and Viana, the team will be missing Chad Marshall and Ben Speas due to injury. Glauber will miss the game with yellow card accumulation. Danny O'Rourke is progressing and has trained the last couple days, but the team will already be down five players who have started games this season.
Coach Robert Warzycha is busy formulating plans for New York and he likely will have to shift around some personnel. Both Josh Williams and Tyson Wahl can play center back and may have to. Chad Barson may get more time on the field, he made his debut at left back against Toronto, but can play any spot along the back line.
Warzycha also has more decisions to make at left wing. Justin Meram started against Toronto, but had a poor game. Ethan Finlay replaced Meram during the game and may replace him in the starting lineup. Bernardo Anor has been coming back from a torn ACL injury, but hasn't made the game day roster. He's the most natural left winger among the available players.
While Columbus is struggling with injuries the Crew's opponent, the New York Red Bulls have been bolstered by the return of Dax McCarty and have a mostly healthy collection of starters and key reserves. The Black and Gold's task just got that much harder.
