The Crew announced the hiring of former U.S. National Team defender and Hammarby IF head coach Gregg Berhalter as the team's Head Coach and Sporting Director. As part of the restructuring, the team also announced that Brian Bliss will be leaving the team and Mark McCullers is relinquishing his General Manager title.

Berhalter's playing career included stops in the Netherlands, England, and Germany before returning to the U.S. and finishing his career with the L.A. Galaxy in 2009-2011. He then was named the first non-Swedish coach of Hammarby IF since the 1920's. Berhalter lead his team to a 18-11-16 record during his 18 month tenure at the second division club.

Berhalter, who holds UEFA A and B Coaching Licenses, will have total control of the Crew's soccer operations including final say on player acquisition matters.
