Tracking the Crew's Trialists

The Crew has a collection of overlooked college players and league castoffs hoping to catch on.

The Crew haven't talked too much about the trialists that have been brought in to camp. Most of the names that have come up are younger players out of smaller colleges that were overlooked in the draft. There are a few MLS castoffs among the group as well. The most notable, Konrad Warzycha, joined the team in Florida today.

Kyle Hyland - Hyland is a Bay Village native who went to IUPUI and quickly became a mainstay for the Jaguars midfield. He is in the mix to fill out depth at the outside back spot.
Nate Bascom - Bascom, a forward, comes out of Ohio Northern University. He scored 18 goals and 18 assists in 2012 and notched 56 goals and 43 assists during his four year career.
Blake Brettschneider - The now well traveled Brettschneider is hoping to latch on with his third team in three MLS seasons. He started out with D.C. United as a rookie in 2011 with a goal in 15 appearances. He made 17 appearances, 10 starts, for the New England Revolution last year. He tallied twice for the Revs.
Sercan Güvenisik - The German born Turkish international is the only veteran in the group. Güvenisik traveled around the lower levels of German soccer before landing with the San Jose Earthquakes last year. He didn't score a goal in five appearances, including one start totaling 87 minutes.
Sean Teepen - Teepen is a College of Charleston product hoping to latch on as the third goalkeeper. He was a four year starter for the Golden Eagles.
Konrad Warzycha - Son of the coach, he was drafted by Sporting Kansas City in 2011, two slots ahead of Bernardo Anor. Robert Warzycha was on record saying he would have drafted his son if he fell to him in the fourth round. He finally gets his chance. Konrad played a single regular season game for Sporting Kansas City, getting one minute of playing time. He's looking to bolster the midfield corps.
Krystian Witkowski - Witkowski was a supplemental draft pick for the Philadelphia Union in 2012. He didn't appear in any regular season matches before being cut. He's one of the options in central midfield.
