Full Time: Crew Beat Union 3-2

New, 2 comments

Arrieta's two goals and a Milo response help Columbus get three points and moves to 14-11-6 with 48 points.

The Union came out with more energy in the 2nd half and was able to turn it into goals.

In the 65th minute, Michael Lahoud fed a through ball past Julius James and Chad Marshall to Hoppenot. Andy Gruenbaum pulled him down to get the yellow card. Danny Cruz took the penalty and put it the opposite way from a diving Gruenebaum.

The Union would nearly grab the tie in the 86th minute as Jack McInerney would take a deflected pass and pop it up over a stranded Andy Gruenebaum to tie the game at 2-2, dealing a big blow to the Crew's playoff chances.

There was still a little late game magic. Coming right back in the 87th minute, Milovan Mirosevic picked up a bouncing ball in the box and calmly slotted the ball past Zac McMath to put the Crew back on top.

The three points moves the Crew to 14-11-6 with 48 points and temporarily back into playoff position.

Full Recap to come.
