The league, the Crew and Toronto FC agreed to postpone the Toronto FC v Columbus Crew match originally scheduled for this Saturday to Wednesday, August 22nd at 7:30pm. The Crew decided to pursue the option in an effort to attend the funeral for Kirk Urso on Saturday. They had attempted to work out the logistics to attend the services in suburban Illinois and return to Columbus by Saturday evening to play the game.
The team will now head to Chicago this weekend for the services before preparing to face off against Los Angeles at Crew Stadium next Wednesday, August 15th. The team sandwiches in a trip to Houston on Saturday, August 18th before making up the game against Toronto on the 22nd. Columbus finishes out the month hosting New England on the 25th and heading to Philadelphia on the 28th.
A team release notes that the The Black & Gold 5k will go on as scheduled on Saturday, August 11, at 8 a.m.
