Open Letter From Mark McCullers

The Crew posted an open letter from team President Mark McCullers on their website today. McCullers strikes the perfect tenor in his note of thanks and reflection. I've reposted the letter in full:

As our organization continues to go through the healing process following the tragic loss of one of our young and promising players, Kirk Urso, it's important to recognize and thank all of our fans and friends of the Crew who have supported us during this very difficult time.

Your kind words, donations and prayers have been extremely thoughtful and inspirational. Additionally, the Urso family has been touched by the outpouring of kindness from our region, Major League Soccer and the U.S. soccer community, and is very appreciative of these heartfelt gestures.

Just prior to Wednesday night's match against the LA Galaxy, we will have the opportunity to honor Kirk's life and career with the Crew, and I hope that you will join us in paying tribute to a person who touched so many lives in a positive way.

Sincerely,

Mark McCullers
President and General Manager
Columbus Crew

McCullers and the Crew organization have shown nothing but class throughout this tragic time. Character is defined in times of crisis and tragedy and every member of the Crew and Hunt Sports Group has acquitted themselves admirably.

The eyes of the American soccer world will be firmly on Mexico City, but without an ounce of doubt, those at Crew Stadium tomorrow evening will be witness to the more meaningful event.
