Fresh off a two-goals-in-two-games reawakening, Emilio Renteria seems to be everyone's favorite pick as the best player in MLS. Whether you read Soccer By Ives, ProSoccerTalk, or of course, the league-sponsored digital fishwrap, everyone pretty much agrees that the stout Venezuelan was the best player in an action-packed week for MLS.
The Crew are suddenly faced with a first world problem - a bevy of goal-scorers that seem up to the task. Renteria looks to be getting back to his expected form, while Justin Meram rides a three-game goal streak, only interrupted by his exclusion from the field this week. Eddie Gaven is looking dangerous from his midfield spot, and got back on the score sheet this weekend. Meanwhile, Olman Vargas is back in the 18, and one has to think that Dilly Duka, Ethan Finlay, and Milovan Mirosevic, when healthy, will be able to contribute, however they are deployed.
That's not even counting the additions of Jairo Arrieta and, allegedly, a designated player-level forward from Argentina, if Brian Bliss has his way.
Massive Attack, indeed.
