The Crew finished the season on a high, beating Toronto FC 2-1 on a wet and windy afternoon.
The Black and Gold got off to a quick start as Higuain scored the opener, taking a deflection, splitting the defense, cutting back and clinically finishing in the 17th minute. It was his 4th since joining the team.
Toronto would tie it in the 27th minute behind a goal by Andrew Wiedeman fed from Ryan Johnson. Both teams would struggle with the conditions for the rest of the half.
Higuain would grab a brace as he drew a penalty after combining with Jairo Arrieta. Terry Dunfield pulled him back before he could get off a wide open shot. He easily finished the spot kick for his 5th goal of the year.
Columbus finished 15-12-7 and 49 points. After missing the playoffs, the Crew braintrust begins the prosess of assessing the 2012 season and prepping for 2012.
