Injuries Galore (Balchan, Urso, and Duka Edition)

+

The break didn't appear to alleviate the Crew's injury situation. OK, here we go: Balchan and Urso are having surgery and will be out for a while. Duka's hamstring issues returned and he's out for a while. Marshall and Schoenfeld have to get back into game shape. Francis and O'Rourke are still recovering. James had a back issue that is delaying his return. Adam Jardy has the full gory details in the link above.

Birchall and Hejduk Won't Meet Obama Today

+

Curiously, the L.A. Galaxy didn't invite Chris Birchall and Frankie Hejduk to the recognition event at the White House for the MLS Cup Champions. One of my favorite memories of the 2008 Crew championship team was bringing back players who were no longer with the team. It was a very nice gesture to the players who made the season great, even if they weren't with the team. I've requested more information from the Galaxy, but their (probably extremely busy) media staff hasn't replied yet.

The Dispatch's Jardy confirmed that forward Aaron Horton was recalled from the Dayton Dutch Lions on Friday. Horton didn't make the Dutch Lions 18 for his only game with the team. He joins a thinned roster as now Ethan Finlay is likely sidelined with an apparent concussion.

The Potters are Coming to Town

+

Well, sorry guys, but I certainly won't be showing up to this one. I HATE Stoke. With a passion. Probably more so than all the other EPL teams combined. Anyway, on July 24, the likes of Crouch and Dewlap will be playing against the Crew.
