The worst kept secret in America was confirmed this afternoon by the U.S. Soccer Federation, Columbus once again hosts the pivotal U.S. v Mexico match on Tuesday, September 10th at 8:00 p.m. ET. The game will also be shown on ESPN, WatchESPN, and UniMas.
The matchup has a great history in the friendly confines of Columbus Crew Stadium. This is the fourth time that the U.S. will play Mexico there and each time the result has been the same, 2-0 to the USA, spurring the rallying cry of "Dos a Cero".
The game comes nearly a year after the U.S., coming off a stunning loss in Kingston, came to Columbus to get thier campaign back on track. Playing in front a vocal sold-out crowd of 23,881, the Americans came away 1-0 winners to kick off a three game winning streak to finish off the Third Qualifying Round.
U.S. Soccer also set the locations for the rest of the home World Cup Qualifiers:
- June 11 at 9:30 p.m. ET. against Panama at CenturyLink Field in Seattle
- June 18 at 9:00 p.m. ET. against Honduras at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah
- Oct. 11 at Time TBD against Jamaica at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan.
The U.S. team is 0-1-0 through a single game of the schedule with a visit to Denver to face Costa Rica tomorrow and then head to Mexico City to take on Mexico on Tuesday.
